The hotel manager and staff were extremely helpful. The hotel provided courtesy transportation upon departure. The laundry, meals, and other room service were thorough, quick, and performed with a pleasant spirit. The chef was exceptional! There is hotel security 24/7. The location, Khalifa Avenue, is adjacent to the main busy street through Manama. Everyone speaks very good English, including the drivers, who know how to get everywhere. Overall, I was completely satisfied with my stay.
I suggested to the hotel manager that there should be a kettle in the rooms, to boil water for tea and coffee. He was receptive to this idea.

Very much central to everything I needed. Loved being in the heart of what felt like old Bahrain.
Advert on Booked.net says there is a gym, but when I got there it does not exist. Hotel is in refurbishment and the gym is not ready yet, was what I was told.

A luxury hotel this is not. But it exceeded our expectations for the price we paid. The rooms were clean, the beds were large and pretty comfortable, and we had a tv and a/C. Simple. Our room had a balcony overlooking Al Khalifa Street, which we liked. The neighborhood is full of 'character', let's say, and Awal Hotel is right in the middle of it- it's next to the Souq, near Beit Al Quran, Bab Al Bahrain, the World Trade Centre, and as far as bars go, it's close to Diggers at the Delmon Hotel, Al Ferouz Club at Al Ahari Hotel, Tiger, all the bars which match the 'character' of the neighborhood'. There are cheap and delicious shawarma and juice restaurants abound. We really enjoyed the location. The hotel staff were very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. They let us store our luggage for the afternoon on the last day as we explored. They also put up with the
For the price, I think the breakfasts could have had some higher quality ingredients. We ordered breakfast twice-the American breakfast, which was a plate of eggs and frankfurters over warm bread, so we ordered the continental breakfast the next day, which was a plate of warm bread.Very disappointing.
